Romeo and Juliet on Valentine's Day

Aaaaaagh, romance! Young love, older love; Valentine's Day and secret love; Romeo and Juliet and heartbreak; tragedy, sorrow and overwhelming joy and happiness. As Valentine's Day 2006 nears, these are thoughts that come to mind.

If you do not have any romance in you, then you will already know that this is no web site for you. But if you have an open heart, a belief and faith in the power of love, then maybe it just will be.

Love and romance are omnipresent all year, but somehow Valentine's Day, at least in some parts of the world, focuses minds on matters of the heart. Here in the Philippines, where I have now lived for five years after moving from England, February is called the "month of hearts."

Celebrating Valentine's Day can be an emotional indulgence to some, a half hearted and reluctant duty to others, or a genuine full blown romantic experience to the real connoisseurs of matters of the heart. Valentine's Day is a time for romantic gifts of love for him or her.

February 14th each year is the peak date of romance, when classic and modern romantic stories are most remembered. Romeo and Juliet come immediately to mind; Shakespeare's classic love story that lives on, it seems, forever. But new romantic stories are still in demand, and you will soon find one of my own being written online to celebrate Valentine's Day 2006; though I cannot guarantee it will be finished by then. We will just have to see how the modern day Romeo and Juliet get on in their tropical paradise.
