Tropical Storm 10 - A Modern Romeo And Juliet Love Story

Juliet and Janie were full of excitement the day of their party. It was Juliet's 16th birthday, with Janie's to follow two days later. They had being going around Port Barton for much of the day, just reminding friends to be on the beach from 7pm. While they were doing so, their fathers had been supervising the setting up of the temporary dance floor and the sound system.

Luckily it was a sunny and dry day. The previous day they had feared the worst as torrential rains had fallen all day, but now the sky was mostly clear and there was no threat of any rain. The beach had been cleared of storm debris before work had started on the preparation for the party.

By 4pm they had been to see everyone they could think of, except Rosie. Janie had wanted to go to Rosie's house first thing in the morning, to see Romeo; Juliet, on the other hand, wanted to delay it as long as possible.

Since they had seen Romeo and Rosie on the beach, Janie had talked endlessly with Juliet about her swim with Romeo.

"Oh, Juliet, I really want that guy. Just for one night; something to remember," Janie had said during one of their many conversations.

Juliet had responded with very mixed feelings: "Janie, you're only 15. He's 24."

Janie had taken hold of Juliet's arm as they walked along during that conversation two days earlier, and giggled:

"Yeah, but I'm 16 in a few days."

She then thought about it a bit more before adding:

"When we were in the sea I felt so hot for him. Juliet, I have never been like that before. He seemed to like it every time I touched him when we were playing around."

Juliet had gone a bit quiet as she recalled watching Janie with Romeo from the beach, and then the strong sensations Juliet had felt as she had touched Romeo's hand when they were introduced.

Now, as they came within a few metres of Rosie's house, Juliet felt her stomach tighten with nerves. Simultaneously, Janie was ready to froth over with anticipation.
