Tropical Storm 3 - A Modern Romeo And Juliet Love Story

Another boy and a girl emerged through the coconut trees shortly after. They were friends of Juliet and Janie, and about the same age. A still excited Janie tried to capture the girl's attention:

"Psssst," she hissed, until Emily looked across. She frantically summoned Emily over. Emily pulled at her companion, Luke's, arm and they went over to see what Janie wanted.

As Emily got close, Janie tried to whisper, but her enthusiasm forced her up a few decibels.

"Who's that?" she asked, nodding and simultaneously pointing towards the young man who had arrived at the beach first. As she did so, he looked back towards the whispering commotion. He saw Janie pointing, and smiled inwardly. She was very pretty, but he could not help noticing the enigmatic beauty sitting next to her looking out to sea.

Emily looked towards him and he gave a general smile towards the group, which seemed most directed at Janie. As he turned to walk on, Emily and Janie giggled. Juliet seemed detached and uninterested.

"That's Romy," Emily eventually replied.

"You know him?" Janie shrieked, causing Romy to glance back again, and this time smiling obviously at Janie, even though it was from some distance.

Juliet finally looked towards Romy, and he just caught a glimpse of her full face as he turned again to continue walking along the beach.

"Americano?" Janie asked Emily. Luke was just laughing quietly at the girls, and their excitement over the newcomer.

"Fil-Am," Emily replied as she, followed by Luke, sat beside Juliet and Janie on the sand.

"Aah, he's so.......handsome," Janie exploded, "and......tall. Oh, Juliet, did you see that guy?"

"Just a glimpse," Juliet told her," I was watching the sea."

"Just another tourist," Juliet then added, in subdued fashion.

Janie looked at Emily, her expression demanding more information.

Emily shook her head gently.

"No, he's just moved here. He's a cousin of Rosie. He's staying here," she divulged.

Janie was again watching Romy, open mouthed and openly with admiration. He was taller than any one she had met, and well built.

"Oh, I hope he swims. I want to see that body," she told them, with all seriousness and oblivious to whoever may hear her. She was not talking quietly.

Juliet smiled and laughed a little. This time it was her turn to nudge Janie with her elbow, and they both giggled, with Emily quickly joining in.

Luke had remained aside from all the girls' enthusiasm, but was now having his own little laugh next to them. It was Juliet who noticed Luke, and she slapped his arm with the back of her hand.

"Luke, what is it?" Juliet demanded to know.

Luke laughed all the more, and looked evasively into the sand, getting the girls more and more agitated over his secrecy.

"Oh Juliet, Juliet," he eventually let out.

This time, Juliet slapped him on the arm and back with her open palm.

"What? Juliet, Juliet?" she pressed.

He laughed all the more, but eventually added: "Romy, Romy, wherefore art thou Romy?........ Juliet, I think you've found your Romeo at last."

Juliet pummelled him all the more now, and the other girls shrieked with laughter as Luke tried to roll on the sand out of reach.
